Billionaire Marcelo Claure Buys 10 Stake In Nyc Soccer Group

Marcelo Claure, a Bolivian billionaire, has agreed to buy a 10% stake in the New York City Football Club.

The deal values the Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise at $700 million. As part of the agreement, Claure will join the club's board of directors and become its vice chairman.

Claure is the founder and CEO of Brightstar Corp., a global wireless distribution company. He is also the co-owner of the Miami Marlins baseball team and the Bolivian football club Club Bolívar.

The investment by Claure is a significant development for the New York City Football Club, which is owned by City Football Group, the parent company of Manchester City, one of the most successful soccer clubs in the world.

The deal is expected to close in the coming weeks and is subject to league and regulatory approval. Once completed, Claure will become the first Bolivian to own a stake in an MLS team.
